my tahoe is an 02 and i never use 4wd i want to eliminate it one day just dont have the money for the trans now. so i was wondering if anyone has ever removed there cv shafts off the front diff and took them completely out while leaving the center section and everything else still in or is it possible to remove the whole front diff completely or is the transfer case going to leak out fluid the whole time. someone please help

You trying to save weight or something? Why remove it?

It would be less aggravation and time to just sell the 4x4 truck and buy a 2wd truck...

save weight plus get rid of the rolling resistance the truck has from having to spin the diff constantly. trying to get my gas mileage up from 12 and gonna see if i can sell the diff to get money to do a few other things to the truck

Mikeyboy did this to his 4wd tahoe. Search for the thread 4wd to 2wd and read how he did it. But this is what he told me, he still has all the 4x4 guts all you got to do is pull the axles out and put in 2wheel drive hubs. Hopes this helps.

I believe "mikeyboy" on here snapped his front axles after he bagged his truck. I think he threw in 2wd hubs and took the cv axles out but he might be able to give you a better idea of what he did.

Nice truck by the way

Edit; damnit earl, beat me too it!
