Hey all,

Blew up the tranny in the 03' hoe and looking to get her back on the road cheaply. Have been offered the "4l60e" from a 2002 Yukon AWD. Will that transmission work with the transfer case from my 4x4 tahoe?

The transmission from the 02 may work in your 03, but I know that 03 and up had major changes to the electrical system. The AWD case will not work with your Tahoe, at least not without changing the front diff, as well as the TCCM will need to be programmed.

Thanks...

Don’t plan on using the transfer case from awd. Just wondering if the 4x4 t-case will bolt to the Yukon tranny

Ok, so I picked up what seems to be a 4L65E (2kzd) from the 2002 Yukon. Guy gave me the transmission, transfer case, torque converter, crossmember and both drive shafts for $400...I tried to do $350 just for the tranny but no dice.

So, will this transmission bolt directly to the engine? Do I need to change the flywheel? Would I use the torque converter from the tahoe (5.3) or the Yukon (6.0)?

The transmission will bolt up, the flywheel should be the same, and I would use the torque converter from the donor transmission. I think the electrical plug and wiring are the same.

When did they change the length of the output shaft?

Isn’t there a difference in the diameter of the input shaft? Like the 4l65e has a 300mm shaft whereas the 4l60e has a 298mm shaft?
