sounds like lifters and a little piston slap. How many miles are on your truck? how was it maintained? I'm not really sure if maintenance has anything to do with it because my 6.0 ticks also and it had its oil changed every 3k by the first owner.

My 04 yukon with the 5.3 makes a constant ticking sound, similar to the sound found in this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNSLSEeYfe8 , any thoughts on would it could be?

Can you record a sound clip or video from under the hood? That video you linked really didn't help especially when you said it was "similar". Let's start off with "exact" noises. :party52:

So, the truck has 280,000 miles on it. It was used as a work truck for most of its life so it has been beaten on, but ever since I've gotten it I've taken pretty good care of it. I've noticed the ticking is still there once it's warmed up. The rate of the ticking goes up with the RPMs in 1st gear, but seem to disappear once I hit 2nd, and any higher gears.

Yeah get a video. As far as the ticking seeming to go away at increasing gears... that could just be the engine not having to rev as high for the consecutive gears before the transmission shifts especially if you are driving it normally.

lifters, just put a motor in my truck because of it. Busted a roller and wore a spot in the cam. These trucks are notorious for lifters going bad.
