I searched but couldn't find anything on the issue. Specifically for the 5.3 engines, has GM resolved the dreaded collapsed lifter issue? I see a reference here to a bad batch of lifters being used in 2020 and 2021 but that is all. Am I in the clear? Or are people still having problems with the 5.3 engines even after 2021?
I just ordered a 2025 Yukon and am looking to avoid the issue. I gather here after reading that I should install a DFM disabler device, change the oil after the first 1,000 miles, then do regular 5,000 mile oil changes. After that, can I let my guard down? Or am I still at risk.
Separately, I am curious to know if the 6.2 uses the same part number for lifters as the 5.3 I see a lot on here where the 6.2 lifters still fail, even after 2021, and that it could be related to a bad lubrication situation so it may not be a "bad lifter" from the factory.
