I just went to an old-school Chevy guy that comes well recommended, and after prodding the engine all over the place with his mechanic's stethoscope, he told me to put some AC Delco Engine Oil Supplement in the oil and that should fix it.

I've already tried Seafoam, and while that did pretty well for my gas lines, it did little for the lifters. Anyone heard of this AC Delco stuff? And/or tried it?

I love the Ls engine, but to change the lifters you have to pull the heads. The lifters themselves aren't too expensive but all of the labor to get in there and change them is a killer. I guess I'm lucky I can do my own work, because I also have a lifter or 2 making noise when cold. I'm going to upgrade the cam and rockers while I'm in there. Probably freshen up the heads too! And then the long tube headers.............
