I Was Just Gonna Put A Remain 5.7 Back In it... I Have The Old Motor Out And Ready For That, But The 5.3 Seems Better Overall ( Power, Gas Mileage, More Dependable ) And For The Price As Well. But A Few Things Im Worried About... One Being The Computer For The 5.3 And For My OBS. Ive Seen It Done Two Ways 1st Being Re-pinning My Old Comp Or 2nd Using Both The New And Old Computer What Is Your Input Or Opinions On That ?

Use Lextechs PCM kit
Im running a 0411 PCM right now with my 5.7 vortec and will be swapping in a 4.8 out of an 06 truck. I will just have to add 10 wires and thats it. No need to add a whole new harness and PCM when one 0411 PCM can handle everything

Any tuner can load a 4.8l tune or what ever tune you want into the 0411 PCM.
Right now mine is running a 5.7 tune from a 2002 van.
The vans had the 5.7 non ls motor in them up until 2002.

unknown at this time.
I know. I already use that myself. I was referring to keeping the full functionality of the vehicle subsystems. To which 10 wires are you thinking are only required to add?

going in a 99 the 5.3 pcm will work just fine without the factory pcm

the computers all communicate through serial2 data wire

same system my 98 bravada uses and everything works just fine unless you happen to have digital climate control like I do then its rather tricky to control the a/c
