5.3 to 6.0 engine swap 03 Z71

sounds like you know what your doing now. the 6.0's come factory with the 60/65e in every truck exept the HD trucks. the trans will be just fine unless you beat on your truck like a loon

I was thinking about doing this swap myself in my 2001 Suburban LT. It has almost 200k. Question is about the transmission. Why not go with the trans that goes with the 6.0 engine and does the 4l80e bolt up to the transfer case that was on the 4l60e. Another question I've just thought of is do you have to modify the front suspension to support the heavier engine? Thanks

As far as the Trans goes the 80e from what i've researched requires some crosmember work as well as other slight modifications for the trans cooler and harness. I would love to do the swap now but money is the issue. And for the front suspension you dont have to worry about it at all. The 4.8,5.3,5.7, and 6.0 blocks are all the same cast with different strokes and or bore size (4.8 has the same bore size as a 5.3 with a shorter stroke and the 5.3 and 6.0 have the same stroke just different bore sizes) that being said I would have to assume that the 6.0 having larger bores with the same block would be lighter.... Not much though.
