I am switching out my 2001 5.3 (Tahoe) for a 2004 6.0 LQ9 out of an Escalade. The LQ9 is complete with flexplate. Do I need to worry about the spacer on the crank?

After all the reading I've done, I understand it should be "bolt in" and fire up and run. After words I can get it programmed to run even better.. Correct? Am I missing anything else?

****** way to find out but put the engine in and spin the torque converter and if you have at least 3/8 of an inch your good. If it's tight then I would remove the spacer.
I just did the 6.0 swap also but used the caddy tranny. You can drive it and it will run perfectly fine, even on the freeway. But don't stomp on it. That will lean it out and you will burn out a piston. I drove mine for a week on the 5.3 tune and it had a ton more power and had zero drivability issues. After the tune I noticed more power again. Fuel miliage over all I got 2 mpg better than the 5.3. The best mod ever.

Post up some pics. We all love them.

Thank you for the reply! I've already order the new PCM. So when I fire it up, it'll be ready to go! I can't wait for the extra power. I pull a 20ft bass boat and the 5.3 with 305,000 miles on it is "tired" to say the least but has served me well.

I thought about getting the caddy tranny as well. What needed to be moded for the tranny? Crossmember, driveshaft, etc.??

Nothing needs to be changed at all. Direct replacement. Hummer and Denali fit also.
All the changes are internal and the electrical is all the same. It's a good small up grade.

If the original engine had the spacer use the spacer and original flexplate. If it did not then don't run it and also use that original equipment flexplate. The flex plate spacing is setup for your trans/converter set-up and bolt pattern. So no surprises during swap.
