5.7 to 5.3 now help with increasing torque

Well folks, I finally traded up and sold my trusty old 99 hoe and bought a 2007 with 25k about 6 months ago, I love almost everything about it except this anemic 5.3l engine, yes it says 325 horse power, but my 99 with a 5.7 would fly out of the hole. the torque was awesome, my new hoe feels like u have to put your foot into it to move it, how do i increase my torque without busting my wallet??? Please help!!

Your problem is not torque. The new truck has a little more than the old one and a lot more HP (255 HP/330 TQ VS 320 HP/340 TQ). I would bet that you picked one with the wrong gears, probably 3.08's. The only way to fix that is to re-gear it or trade it for one with 3.42 or even 3.73's. Unfortunately, both options are wallet busters especially if yours is 4WD.

LS motors breath really well on the top end, so Most of the power you feel is up higher in the rpm band.
Your new truck is also heavier than your old one. The Gmt 900s weigh 5400 lbs at a minimum and go ip from there.
Hoping you didn't get one with the 3.08s. They really need 3.45s to feel good off the line.
Expect a gear set change to cost $400 if you know somebody and I have seen others charge anywhere from $1100-1500!

Yea my brother has a 99 with the 5.7 and I have a 07 with the 5.3. It is a night and day difference off the line. My guess is that there is alot more torque management from the ecu with the 5.3. My truck has 3.73 so it's not the gearing.

Yes and yes. Old ones were in the 4800-5000 lb. range. New ones 5200 lb. or more.
