I just installed a new Bravex Distributor in my 97 Yukon GT 5.7l Vortec after doing the MPFI upgrade. I fiddled around long enough so the distributor body sat somewhat parallel to the intake, and there was no more P1345 code. I got an OBDLink MX Bluetooth scanner with Dash Command App installed. At 1000 rpm it doesn’t matter which way I turn the distributor, the cam retard offset hovers around +24 degrees. What is happening?

Looks like Dash Command is strictly monitoring Timing. I don’t see Cam Retard Offset. I’m using an iPhone.

2000 rpms would show 0 not 1000 if im not mistaken. also if you dont see p1345 your atleast within +/- 2°. also i think i recall some scanners read what it thinks the timing is and its actually reading the wrong thing. most scanners that properly read it specify it as cam retard and have a separate reading for timing. so if your still have issues there is a different problem.

Not familiar with that app, sometimes an app needs Advanced Senors or something similar- Torque app needs the paid app (Torque Pro) and GM advanced sensors installed. Also check ABOVE 1000 RPM.

It’s been a few years since I used it, but you have to buy the extended PID package on that app. Once you have it, you can add the CMP Retard as a “gauge” and get the value.

I had Dash Command for the 5.7 and had to buy the extension. Definitely worth every penny, and you can read CMP Retard in there.

Ok thanks. There is a problem with the in App purchase for Extended Parameters in DashCommand. I talked with Support at Palmer Performance , and hopefully they are sorting it out. I unfortunately am having low oil pressure when warm at idle, so I am going to have to pull the distributor again....and replace the new Rockauto oil pressure transmitter I just installed. I am thinking of just taking the hit and buy AC delco from the dealer this time.

I’ve heard that some people had issues with the app (particularly 1997 for some reason) but it worked fine on my 98. Not sure why there’s a disconnect in that, but hopefully they’ll sort it out for you.

Oil Pressure sensor can be replaced without pulling the distributor itself. Having the socket helps...

Ok thanks! That tool would definitely help. I will check it out.

I just marker and took a picture of where the rotor was before i pulled the old distributor, then when I installed the new one I lined it up. Pain in the dick job and was a clear reminder of why I prefer fuel injected/individual coil systems
