Thats a good idea. I might try that, but would the colors match? As stupid as it sounds, the most important thing to me is that the low and fogs match. I really couldnt care less about how much light is put out by the fogs, I just need them to match up to my head lights. I was also thinking about going to an LED bulb, but not sure how the colors would match.

I say get the LEDs, the should match if you have 8k lows, and with 6k they will be slightly bluer bot not that much noticeable.
I have 9006 LED bulbs modded to fit in the fog housings, not 5202 LED bulbs, the 5202 ones are unnecessarily expensive.
Here is a pic with my 6000k low beams and LED fogs.

Wattage is a measure of power. The heat a bulb produces is directly proportional to the wattage. The stock bulbs are 27 watts. Therefore, a 35 watt bulb of any type is going to produce more heat than a 27 watt bulb, no way around it. That works out to over 20% more power (heat) than a stock bulb. That is why the housings melt. Those that have gotten away with it are probably not using them constantly, or are using them in very cool ambient temperatures, or both. I have been running the "Ion Spark White" Putco's for months with no issues because they are also 27 watts. Plenty of people with the correct 5202 (H16) HID kit in the fogs have had melt downs. It's not because they are stupid and didn't install them right.

Quick question for you Modded. since I am running 35 watt 600-K lows, do you think it would match the LEDs like your 55 watt 8000ks

Oh no it won't match correctly, I have 35W 6000k HIDs just like you.
I say you order a extra set of 8000k bulbs, then run them in comparison with the 6000ks you have already, and then whichever one matches you can choose that one.
Im pretty sure 8000k 55W HIDs would be a perfect match because of color wash, I will go that route if mine ever mess up.

I've used my 6k's almost everyday and night for the past year with no problems.
