I didn't know if this should be in this forum or not but can move it need be. Did a few mods to our 08 Yukon (Air Intake, Exhaust) and decided to open her up yesterday to see if I could feel the difference. We have had this truck for about 1 month only. I punched it down and noticed that it revs up to about 5500 rpm before some of the shifting happens. I get no rubber burning or anything like that just some serious acceleration and then a shift, it happens again when its shipping to 3rd I assume, after that I am doing about 60 and haven't really had the open space to go any faster so I don't know that it will happen with any of the higher gears. Is this normal for these trucks, I am coming from a minivan so.... I noticed on the Yukon there is no redline so its hard for me to determine if this is not very good for the engine. I don't drive around revving it to 5500 at every stop but still wonder. Any thoughts?

Thanks KC. Question for you since yours is tuned. What did you do to yours? Also was the difference between stock and modified and tuned significant?

Mine was tuned by a shop. I can't tell you 100% what he did. I can tell you my Yukon drives totally differnt. He uses HPtuners. It's not so sluggish in town. Shifts are firm. Im sure there is more HP. That is what I can feel. My Yukon being AWD he did a "street tune". My truck is basically stock, CAI and no resonator.

Since you aren't tuned for the mods, your computer isn't able to tell the engine what to do with the extra air coming in. You aren't hurting anything, but you also aren't optimized for your mods.

My 06 Tahoe was BB tuned for 93 Octane, tighter shift points, Tow/Haul sport mode, adjusted the efans, tightened up the WOT shift point. She shifts at 5500 when hammered. Different years, but gives you an idea of what was/can be adjusted. CAI and muffler were only other mods that related to the tune.
