Subbing for more info

Do a couple searches on here for more detailed info but it is almost a straight drop in.

-Keep your 5.3 intake and injectors.
-You will need a tune
-I think you use the Flex plate from the 6.0 (double check that one)
-And look into some tranny upgrades unless you can keep from beating on it.

If either of you are in the Western PA area I have a 6.0 (LQ4) with 50-55K on it. I bought it last spring when I thought my 5.3 was on it's way out. Opened it up to verify no issues and put it back together and painted it. Long story short my 5.3 lives on so let me know if you are interested. I also have some parts for the install that just make sense to do when you have it apart but as of now the engine is a stock 6.0 with fresh black paint.

I'm in NY, how far a ride into PA are you and what are you looking to get for the motor?

I just did a 6.0 swap in my 2004 Tahoe Z71. Very easy. Used a 6.0 out of a 2003 Chevy 2500 Van. Keep your intake as you will reuse that. Replace the knock sensors under the intake while you are there. Cheap and easy. You will have to reuse your flex plate. If the 6.0 has a spacer behind the flex plate take it out. I also reused the 5.3 bolts for the flex plate. Can't remember if they were different. I used Brendan at LT1Swap.com to reprogram my PCM. He was very reasonable and quick turnaround. My 6.0L was a longblock without accessories or mounts so I reused everything off my 5.3L. So far about 500 miles with no issues. Very noticeable power difference especially off idle. Haven't checked gas mileage yet but will post when I get a chance.

The intakes are actually the same, but the injectors may be slightly different. You need to get a tune at the very least, but the tuner should be able to adjust for the 6.0 injectors if you keep that intake. Obviously the wire-tb and cable-tb intakes wont swap over.

That's one of my biggest thing if I ever swap being my hoe is an 01. I'm sure it's a not that hard to put the cable tb on since the blocks were all the same.

The intakes are different since the non-cable versions dont have the provision for the cable. To swap to a wire tb you have to replace the tb, pcm, and gas pedal.
