Aamco just put a “new” transmission in for me. Ive had the truck (2011 tahoe) back for 12 days and am having issues similar to when i dropped it off at aamco. I drive in atl traffic daily, it sometimes hard shifts, lurches when costing at low speed, 10-20 mph in first gear, and the temp seems to stay between 200&220. I climbed under it today and noticed the bell housing is a completely different color than the rest of the trans and in my opinion everything seemed way too dirty and greasy and there was alotta fluid all over the place for it to be a 12 day old transmission. Anybody have an opinion on this?

I don't think they (or anyone) sell truly new transmissions, they are rebuilt.

What does your receipt say? Did they overhaul the original or put in a used one or a rebuilt one? Did you see the original transmission beforehand? Did they replace the torque converter? What did they charge?

If that is fluid leaking from the transmission in those photos, the fluid is toast as is the "new" transmission. It's supposed to be bright red, not black!

Does your truck have an external transmission cooler just behind the grill? If you cannot tell, does the sticker with all the little codes on it have KNP? If so, the cooler can become blocked over time which causes the transmissions to overheat and fail. It is SOP to test the lines and the cooler with a special machine one of which is called the TransFlow.

I went checking for how to find the VIN on the transmission but my books only show for the older 4-speeds. Anyone know?

There is a sticker with the VIN on the passenger side of the transmission just above the pan about halfway back the length on the transmission.

that's not new and the "fluid" you are seeing is engine oil, you have a oil leak, could maybe be the rear main they should have said something about when they had the transmission out.
at any rate if you had AAMCO do it then you have at least some warranty, take it back.
