As I was driving my truck it stopped. It doesn't go reverse it doesn't go forward so I pull down the transmission to check the the clutches and found out the some was bad I replaced the ones that was bad, out the transmission back together and put it back on the truck, and still nothing. I had a 6l90 valve body and the TCM on a transmission that I had bought to replaced it with it with the one on my truck, and boom! We have movement it goes forward but not reverse. Can someone tell me why. I am limited to parts because I am in Haiti and I can't just go to a parts store to buy parts.
What clutches were bad?
Usually if there was a clutch pack failure, you would want to really look for a cause.
Usually involves air checking drums, etc.
A big one is that drum right behind the pump.
I'm assuming that's where you found the burnt clutches?
Common failure.
I'm rebuilding my 6l80 now, and i replaced that drum for good measure.
There is also an aluminum piston in there that is known for cracking, and causing that issue.
I had a shift flare from 2-3, and the usual cause is the older style pump stator.
My truck was made right in the transition period.
I found the late 08 pump that didn't have the issue, so the next thing to blame is that drum... lol
I also installed the sonnax billet piston in that new drum.
It's a reccomended upgrade for $90
Anyways, if I'm right and the clutches were burnt in the front 1-2-3-4 / reverse drum
Replace that drum!
