You can swap anything if you know what you are doing. Buddy has a 2002 2500hd with a 2010 cummins + Alison 6speed+ tcase from his 4l80. Wiring harness from a 8.1L computer from a dodge ram. Main original GM computer. Sensors from GM mounted to the cummins. Long story short anything can be done. If you desire.

I can go into great detail about replacing a 4l60 with a 4l80 if you desire.

Damn, your buddies HD must be pretty insane.

I would appreciate the info about the 4l80e swap. There is absolutely no rush though, so at your convenience.
Thank You

How do you like it?
Did you rebuild it or did you have someone do it for you?
Nice, I had a billet 3200 in my previous Hoe.
Thanks man

Well you have a few options. And when I say simple I mean no extreme custom fab. Plenty of guys on this forum have done the swap and a bunch on a few other forums.

Transmissioncenter.net

Has adapter cross members for about $300 if you don't want to mod ties and if you cannot weld. They also sell other adapters and such along with a list of overly bad ass 4l80 a that are bullet proof.

4l60e rated for engine 360# and gearbox of 610
4l80e rated for engine 440# and gearbox of 885

So the 4l80 is 80# at engine gain and 275 at gear case.

The 60 weighs 185#
The 80 weighs 254#

Few things you will need are as follows sans transmission and driveshaft. new inspection cover, transfer case adapter with hardware, new filler tube, reflashed ECM or one from a doffrent truck, transmission shifter cable bracket with hardware, 4L60E-to-4L80E jumper harness, speed sensor harness, and a larger-diameter transfer case input shaft.

The tCase shaft is a key item. As the 60 has a smaller output than the 80. So you have 2 options. A) swap output shafts of the 80. This is stupid why weaken your new trans. Or B) rebuild your tcase and improve it with the larger input shaft to accet the 80 larger output shaft. Now most of these parts can be salvaged from the donor vehicle. If you use the full harness from the other car you don't need the adapters. But why make more work just to save couple hundred that's up to you. Personally I would swap full harnesses and probably get the harness throw into the package from the salvage yard. But all these can be purchased.

Their are a few routs to take. But basically you need

Computer.
TrAnsmission
Tcase input swap
Tcase adapter plate
Wiring convert
And moded crossmember

All of these items are manufactured and readily available. Now with this said only a couple shops make them but they can be had.

jdpber,
Thanks for the info. Mine is 2wd :), no Tcase.
Have you heard about people repining the harness instead of buying a jumper?
Another thing, I have yet to see a tranny X member for a NNBS. Do you know of any?

Travieso,
Very nice. How's it been holding up for you?
I already have 4:10s but, I was thinking of maybe going down to 3:73s or 3:55s to try and squeeze a a few more MPGs out of it.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
