I have a small issue...

My 95 Tahoe just blew 50 bucks worth of 134 out in the open within 5 min of me charging it. I had just replaced the compressor as I knew it was bad. I suspect the culprit may be these...

These small discs make the hoses stick slightly out of the back of the compressor, and it doesn't look right to me.

I put the hoses back on, without the seals just to see, and there was no gap, which looked right to me.

Can anyone with a 95 who has replaced their compressor please tell me the trick to this? I need my ac bad...lol

In fact, a photo of your compressor at the back would be most helpful and appreciated. I just don't want to waste any more 134.

Thanks!

From the looks of it. I'm thinking get rid of the spacers, but here's mine. I hope this helps.

How hard was it to change your compressor? I got a 95 too and my compressor is gone too. If you have a write up or if there's a how to anywhere let me know.

Actually, you have the same seals...If you look carefully, you can see there is a small gap like mine on yours as well.

Changing the compressor is easy. But, do yourself a favor, and don't get one from the junkyard. I am changing mine again now because this one is no good either. They are only 129 new from advance. Only took me about a hour or so..

I will try to do a write up for ease and to help others

LOL Why would you buy a compressor form the junk yard?!

Anywho, yeah you need those. Without they will leak, I have seen some that were slightly larger then they should have been. I would take it apart and see what you can do to get it to seal better.

unknown at this time.
don't really do this anymore but I think you have the wrong seals. what you believe to be spacers are actually gaskets. if you have not already you should take the old ones off and use them to find replacement. the ones in your first pic are sealing washers. the bolt shafts go thru those and may or may not be used in conjunction with these gaskets.

Yes, I believe that you have the wrong gaskets. I have been going through this on my 99 for the past couple weeks. I know that the compressor is different from 95 to 99. My local napa chain lists the metal ring ones that you have, but after 2 sets I am still watching my $50 worth of refrigerant ( Now I'm up to $100) slowly bubbling out! I looked on rock auto and found ones that look thicker than the napa units. Ie. the rubber is thicker than the metal which allows the rubber to crush down to the metal. I'm going to my dealership this afternoon to get to the bottom of it.
