Okay first of all I have searched about this and did not find anything that was helpful to me. I have a 96 Tahoe that I bought a month ago. It has a 5.7L vortec v8, truck ran fine until a few days ago, I left a light and the truck just died on me. I thought I was out of gas so I put 10 gallons of gas in it, still didn't fire up. I got it towed home so i could check it out. First I checked the throttle body maybe it could be dirty, cleaned that, still no start. Next I checked the fuel pressure it was 60psi, I looked that up seems to be in spec. Then I checked out my spark plugs and wires all of them look good. The truck had a check engine light on since I bought it, the last owner told me it had a bad o2 sensor. I got the code checked from auto zone it showed p0300, and also another one for crank/camshaft sensor. I changed out the crank shaft sensor and still no luck. Today i started to unplug each plug wire and start the truck when i unhooked the wire for cylinder 3 the truck fire up like it never had a problem, it runs fine on 7 cylinders:poker: but as soon i plug the wire for the 3rd cylinder in it dies, if i try to start it again I get blue smoke from the throttle body. I take off the wire for cylinder 3 it starts up again. I already changed out the spark plug and wire for that cylinder. Compression is 165 on cylinder 3. I'm completely out of ideas:sad72:.

Welcome to the forum.

That's a very unique problem you have there.

You mentioned that PO told you that there was a bad O2 sensor, did that code show up besides P0300 when you had the code checked? Or any other codes?
How are the compression on rest of the cyclinders?

Just trying to eliminate some possibilities.

unknown at this time.
have you inspected the dizzy cap for direct short. also if you get blue smoke you are burning oil somehow. actually remove the plug and inspect its condition.
