guys question here... i am about to do a system in my 96 2 door. i finally have all the pieces , just need the time now. anyway , im planning a single din HU , i have a sealed 12" sub / amp . i replaced the 4x10s with new units. i picked up two small 6.5" sealed boxes that i want to mount on either side on top of the rear wheel wells inside . is there a way i can run both the 4 x 10 and the 6.5 on the rear two channels of the HU? would this be a simple matter of splicing in or is there a better way.

What is the make and model and minimum impedance per channel of the head unit? What is the nominal impedance of the 4x10 and the 6 1/2 speakers you intend to use?

they will be pretty standard 4 ohm units. the HU is a high-power 50w max per channel amp , i think 18 or 20w rms per channel

If you have two 4 ohm speakers you can put them together by connecting them in series, giving you and eight ohm load, or parallel, giving you a two ohm load. Unless your deck is rated to handle a two ohm load per channel, you will want to series them resulting in an eight ohm load. Here is a diagram to help you:

Connecting them in parallel will sound louder but you run a very good risk of burning up your deck's amplifiers. If you're lucky, only a fuse. Don't do it.

If one of the two speaker's sensitivity rating is higher than the other, one will be louder than the other and the interaction may be unfavorable. Nothing ventured nothing gained, I guess, but proceed with caution!
