ok my 96 hoe has a bad start problem. i changed the fuelfilter checked the spark. changed the aci . fuel pressure is 42 lbs with the just the key on 54-52 at idel and when i rev it jumps about 60. i have to crank it for a good 5 mins and to get it to start and even then it seems like it dont want to its rough but when it starts it runs perfect i left the fuel pressure gauge on over night and its not droping i filled it with hightest and dry gas thinking i might have water in the fuel and i have no dumby lights on any one help me with this ideas?

Sounds like it could be your passlock system. A common Tahoe problem.

unknown at this time.
:welcome: No pass-lock on the 96. Do you have any other anomalies. that may seem unrelated. When it finally start or during do you notice any unusual exhaust color?

Pass-lock is a factory security system.

:Stupid Me: Sorry. I didn't catch the year model. Be glad you don't have passlock.

Did this just begin doing this out of nowhere or has it gotten progressively worse?

So you are saying you have fuel pressure the entire time you are cranking?

Possibly:
Bad fuel
Weak battery / starter / slow cranking speed
Weak spark
Flooded with fuel
Low compression

I would pull a plug or two and see if they are wet.

I know this thread is old but I just started having a similar problem and was wondering if this issue was resolved
