I recently bought a used 97 Tahoe 2-Dr.

The problem I'm having right now is one of the cables (the long one) for the rear seat release (to lay the back seat down) is disconnected and I can't seem to figure out how to reconnect it ... not sure if there's something missing or broke or what.

I've looked online and I don't know if I'm not asking the right question or what in my search, but I can't find ANYTHING about this online .. no diagram, instruction or video .. NOTHING.

Can anyone help me out?

Huh, this is a first for me. I have never heard or read about any problems with the release cable.
I just went outside to check it out, its too dark out now. I'll look at it tomorrow after work and see what I can find for yah.
Maybe someone has had an issue with this here and will chime in.

Be back to tomorrow :)

Thanks.

Yeah .. I'm not sure what the issue is .. I don't know if the cable came disconnected and the guy that owned it before me couldn't figure out how to reconnect it or if it it broke or a part is missing or what.

It has two latches, one on each side each with a cover. The covers are visible next to the seat where it folds and where the seatbelt goes. I didnt take the covers off but did see the latches move as I pulled the lever.
I tried getting pics but my cameras batteries are dead. Sorry.
Hope it helps.

I'm going to have to find some pictures or diagrams or something I guess.

I see a single handle/lever on the front edge of the back seat on the passenger side.

Same problem here on a 96 two door. Except my cable is still connected. I think it may be stripped out but either way I cannot get it to release. I've had a mechanic look at it and he wasn't able to get it to release either. Problem is where it all comes together is difficult and awkward to access. So I'm just dealing with it for the time being.

You can stick a flat tip screw driver in there and get that latch to release really easily and pull up. Its not a fix but it will do :)
