97 4x4 4dr tahoe tanny prob

Hey guys ive been lurking around here for sometime and ive used the search but no help. My Tahoe when i try to get on it and pass somebody or get on the gas hard it just like does not shift into any gear it just revs up like the tranny is slipping. But if i drive it slow it will shift all the gears fine no slip or what so ever. i have no check engine light. Ive changed the vss sensor and it does nothing to it. if this had happen to you let me know im coming to a dead end i hope its not the tranny.

I hate to tell you so, but I had the same problem. Same year, same body style. It was the tranny. Mine eventually just stopped moving on me one day, all I had was park, reverse, and neutral. The band and the clutches were burnt. The pump was also bad. I STRONGLY suggest you get it to a trans shop before it craps out all together and you have to pay for a tow.

I had almost the same problems you did. Same year body style and drive train. At first when I would put it into drive, and let off of the brake, it didn't want to move off of the idle, I had to press the gas. It almost felt like the parking brake was on. And my check engine light came on. The when I went to pass someone on the highway, when I accelerated, it would shift into neutral and wouldn't go anywhere, just kept reving. shortly after that it wouldn't shift from 2-3 and 3-4 and it just kept getting worse. In the end I had to replace all the clutch disks and plated, torque converter, all shift solenoids, the main electrical harness, and everything else in that tranny. What a nightmare. You should take it in to have looked at before you mess up anything else that you might have to replace to help you save money.

Well guys i had to overhaul my transmission and it cost me 1000 bucks but it is all good again and thanks for all the help
