Changed out the steering column now no start. Tries to fire for three or four seconds then just turns over. Am now getting a security light flashing on the dash. Is this a dealer only fix?

Might have to reprogram the electronics to recognize the column. Swapping the column probably tripped some anti theft system. My buddy has that problem with a Firebird/Trans Am of his. :( You'd need the right tools to reprogram yourself I believe.

I found a thread on GMT400.com that explains a process for the system to relearn the key resistance. I need to replace my battery before I can do the relearn steps. The DRL's killed it trying to do it. Now, I pulled the fuse for the DRL's/fog lights but the DRL's still come on? I had a Pontiac Bonneville, that had cut wires under the dash, so I pulled them out and set off the anti thief. Had to tow it to the dealership to get it fixed. 75.00 for the tow 160.00 at the dealership. Of curse now we don't have a GM/GMC dealership in our area anymore. Closed them down during '08-'09 maybe '10 bail outs. Nearest one now is 50 miles out.

So the Yukon lives again. Today I changed out the key lock cylinder to the original one charged the battery, and the relearn trick worked. If I knew how to post links I'd post a link to thread from GMT400.com forum under the audio & electronics heading. This process is for the passlock system, not the passkey system.

You can remove the DRL module. It is under the dash on the drivers side. It is a small metal case with heat sink fins on it.
