Here's the story. Yesterday I swapped out the steering column because 1, turn signal switch was bad. 2, the tilt no longer locked. Up till then everything else on this rig worked great. Just no blinkers, hazards, and a bouncing steering wheel. Now after the swap triped the security system, that's reset and truck is running. Getting a check engine light, NO speedo, NO tac., and NO gear indicator light. Truck will barely take off and once it does, will not shift out first, and last but least, service 4x4 light is now on with no indicator light on the 2 hi switch. No wiring was cut or spliced during the swap. Could I now have a bad BCM? I made sure the steering column came out of another 98 truck.

:chair: This is but it ain't funny. Have figured out what I did wrong on this swap. Now the loss of the tach, speedo, and gear indicator light was from removing the wrong fuse. I thought I removed the fuse for the drl/fog, but pulled the fuse for the PRND, instead. As for the shifting issue, there is a black sensor along the steering column that has a rod running through it, that snaps onto the column at the same point as the shift cable. I think,( this is a dangerous thing with me lol), this sensor controls the locking of the torque converter? Anyway, the plastic where it snaps onto the column had worn out and would no longer stay snapped on. So the check engine light was a code 0740, scanned with Snap-On scanner. Had to do with the torque converter. That sensor is now replaced, and so far alls good but, the steering is way loose, so I think a new steering wheel position sensor is next up to be changed out.:party52:
