I have a 1999 tahoe 2wd that I just built a 383 stroker for and want to build a new rear end for it but not sure of the best one to run... want to run a nice posi with 4.10 or 4.11 gears.. any info would be greatly appreciated.

what sun said but I would look around for a good 14 bolt. It a direct bolt in and if its good enough for wheeling it should be good for yours. You might have to get it rebuilt and throw in some performance parts but for ease of install you cant beat it.

need more info like tire size and preference for economy or power or in the middle.
Well I have 255/70/16's on the truck right now but found a nice 22 inch American racing nova wheel that I want to run but not sure of what tire size to go with..want to lean more towards power.

well the new 22" tire size is really needed too. when you pick what size you want an ideal gear solution will be easily calculated.

well the stock tire size was 245/75/16 and the possibility of a 3.42 or 3.73 gears so for now lets assume you have 3.42. to go to the new tire size there is about inch increase in overall diameter. in terms of rpm only 3.73 gears will cover the difference but a little of the mass increase as well. 3.91's would get you back to stock power output at the wheels and at the same time rpm will be higher with a little increase in fuel consumption. about .5 gallon per hour more. 4.10's would be easily noticed in quicker launch times and overall acceleration rates however the fuel consumption would increase more. anywhere from 1 2.5 gallons per hour because of the higher rpm required to maintain the same speed and ego of suddenly needed to punch it more often then before.

Lol... yeah im sure there would be more pedal being used... my truck has a 3.73 in it now. Think I will be going with a 4.10.. Just would like to find a good posi unit.. My truck has an eaton but I think the clutches are worn.. I heard a clunk noise couple times before and also one one wheel spins when you brake torque it. Don't know if it makes a difference but I also have a 2800 stall converter In the truck.

They make a 3.90 for the Chevy 10 bolt, nice middle ground there. There is nothing wrong with a properly prep'ed Chevy 10 bolt, especially for a 2wd with street tires on it.

tru-trac lockers are a great unit with no clutches or need for friction modifiers.
