I have a 99 SLT with a brand new 5.7 and I was wondering if it's possible to put that motor in a 2005 Yukon. If it IS possible, what changes (if any) need to be made?

Swapping any lsx out for the older L31 engine isn't a wise decision. The electronics used to run the old 5.7 is quite archaic compared to the newer lsx engines and don't make nearly as much power. They are also less reliable and have far more issues specifically coolant related. Go find a junkyard 6.0 out of a 2500hd truck or wrecked escalade/denali/h2 if you need a replacement. Sell the L31 on craigslist.

I'm not even sure why you'd want to downgrade like that
