I have a 99 Tahoe that I just replaced the ball joints, tie rod ends, etc., basically everything that wears in the front end. After I reassembled it my air-bag light came on. I was told not to turn the steering wheel while disassembled and as far as I know it never was turned. Does anybody know what I need to do to fix this? Any help is appreciated.

unknown at this time.
you will need to have it scanned for a specific code. but it is not supposed to be turn when the steering shaft is disconnected from the steering box. if the key was out the column would have locked it. be sure you have not damaged or disturbed the the sensor along side the front wheels mounted on the frame.

i am having the same exact problem after doing the exact same work...as Sunlit mentioned, check the sensor on the front. We never touched ours and when the dealer scanned my truck, it crashed his computer.

I personally pulled the fuse on the airbag until i can fix the problem.
