Hello everyone. I have a 99 tahoe sport with a blower fan problem , it only works on low. This is fine on the freeway as it keeps the cabin cool on a long trip but around town....not so good. From reading other posts here , the consensus seems to be either one of the relays or the control box . Is there any way to test these to determine which? I know the relay is cheaper but I hate to buy any part without knowing for sure. Thanks for any help.

Relay only actuates on high. Based on what you described it is the fan switch. it determines whether it is off lower speeds thru a resistor or high which instructs a relay to bypass the resistor and draw direct power.so if your resistor was partially burned out. it still should work on high unless the relay is broken too. If, when your a/c is and lit, the light does not go off when moving the fan switch to off your switch is bad.

Sounds like the fan switch is it. AC light does not go out. Just stays on low-slow all the time. Thanks a bunch.

Guy at the parts store tried to convince me it was the resistor. After getting the the old switch out , I noticed it had a missing prong and looked like there was some shorting going on inside it. When I started it up , I was rewarded with a nice gail force breeze! Just in time for a 600 mile road trip.
