If loud is all you want, this is what you need to do. Get an original 40 series make it a dual 2.5" in and 3" dual out. That shit will be so loud you will want to change it to a Magnaflow shortly after. This is what I had on my previous truck, first had JBA shorties with full 2.5' SS Maggy HF cats and this. Upgraded to Kooks headers and this and shortly after swapped this POS out for a 14568.

Thanks for the input guys, but honestly louder is better in my book. So would the single in dual be louder? And I'll probably end up going with the flowmaster 40

It's not that single in dual out is louder, the 40 series is what is makes it load. What we are suggesting is to stay with the dual in because your vehicle is designed to run best with dual exhaust. If thats not what you have on it now, then somebody that didn't know what they were doing changed it.

I had single in, dual out on my 95' because it was a TBI motor that came from the factory with single in, single out. I went against the recommendation of the guy at the muffler shop and chose 40 series. I chose dual out for the coolness factor (two pipes sticking out the back with stainless tips). It looked great but was too loud for me. Remember the muffler is going to be roughly just under the rear seat, you'll definitely hear it and thats all you'll hear, forget hearing normal converstations at 70 miles per hour.

I talked to a local shop about a dual in dual out setup, and it would be flowmaster 40. Won't be as loud, but It'll still sound good. Any experiences with 50 series?

My 99' has a dual in, dual out, 50 series Flowmaster, that the previous owner installed. I like the way it sounds. It has more of a low muscle car sound verses the obnoxiously load 40 series Flowmaster that was on my 95'. If your a noise fan then the 40 is for you.

unknown at this time.
other owner of mine took the two stock pipes and squeezed both into one of the same size before entering the muffler. what a pain. now i have to pay to fix it. just like the Denali wheels they put on.

There's an idiot born everyday, remember my Hoe's previous owner, an engineer that didn't know how to grease front end parts. I guess I'm to blame too, for not checking the front end closer before buying. The "bling appeal" of the exterior was just too much for me.

judging by your picture the flowmaster is not your problem. your environment and your install position is.

that was a customers truck. year and a half old...crap regardless. this isnt the 1st ive seen like this. but i do love the sound of a 40
