A mechanic told me there is an intake gasket by # 7 or 8, which is plastic that the orange anti freeze breaks down. I've drained the oil from the engine. The oil came out like a mocha color. I had thought that the Heads were gone, but she runs with no smoke. Anyone ever heard of this?

I drained what looks like a couple of gallons out of it. I figured since the truck has been sitting it would separate but it didn't. I'm going to buy some cheap oil and flush it through until it comes out like oil and not coffee. Then I'm gonna try some Lucas in it and run it for awhile and drain it again. The thing isn't getting any bearing knocks or anything so I'm thinking I may try and fix it. I looked into a Jasper engine, but since I'm in the middle of a divorce and she cleaned me out I really don't have the 3 G's to drop into it right now

You should not take a chance on running it any further. It is most likely a intake gasket. You can take out a rod bearing or worse by running it with coolant in the oil.

Start by taking the intake manifold off. If you don’t see clear evidence of the leak on those gaskets, then you can proceed to do the head gaskets.

The intake has to come off first anyway. Pulling the spark plugs will also help identify if there is a specific cylinder involved. :)

don't they make some head gasket leak fixer stuff? i know it doesn't always work, and may be more harm than good in the long run, but may get him out of a bind for now until he has the money? like bars leaks, but made for head gaskets. i know i've seen it, just can't remember the name. like i say, it would be a quick fix, probably temporary, but you know...

Summit has a gasket set for Intake Manifold for $36.95. You could spend that much doing a couple of oil changes.

Guess it depends on if you want to gamble on blowing the engine. With the amount of water described, it is most likely a intake gasket with the coolant flowing through the valley and into the oil pan.

If that much coolant went through the cylinder, you would expect it to hydro lock.

I just can’t see doing major damage to the engine because of a few gaskets. Then again, maybe the truck is not worth saving and buying a few weeks with a “gasket sealer” tonic, is the answer. :emotions122:

The truck is a definite save, The body is mint the interior is 8.5 out of 10 if not higher. It's a 99 Yukon 1500 SLT. It's loaded all leather. Only thing wrong in the interior is one of the buttons on the radio fell off and got lost.
