this recently started happening. When the A/c is off there is no noise. But as soon as i turn the A/C, the comrpessor makes a low winding noise, which NEVER used to happen. Something like if some dry bearing were rubbing or whatever.
Ive seen next to the freeon bottle there are different kind of oils, are we supposed to service the compressor with these every once a while? or am i just not understanding what going on. The A/c blows cold and thats not a problem, its just the damn comressor that makes that winding noise and it goes on and off non stop until i turn off the A/C.
please help. I dont want to take it to the shop and get robbed a couple hundred for them just too look at it....

maybe that compressor is starting to go bad?
I say get it checked with a mechanic that someone could refer you to. one that wont "screw" you over

Mine sounds like theres a cricket in my truck, but i think its the blower fan itself. because it only does it on the 2-3 speed.

sounds like the the clutch on the compressor is going bad. some times the clutch is replaceable without replacing the whole compressor.
