Greetings all,

Having a problem with the A/C in my 2001 Tahoe. I had the system completely serviced back in May of this year (and recharged). It worked great until now. A/C compressor comes on and cycles on and off. The air at the vents stays warm/hot. It might get a little colder, but not much. The line that has the fill port in the engine bay is cold, but the accumulator no longer gets cold (no visible condensation) and there is no condensation dripping from the drain tube.

Any idea whats going on?

Possible blockage in orifice tube, or actuator/blend door sticking. You might want to take it back to where you had the work done originally. Good luck!

How can I tell if the actuator/blend door is working correctly? For what it's worth it cycles from cold to hot back to cold with no problems.

Might be the orifice tube....where is that located? Thanks.

The orifice tube filter is inside the A/C line, usually close to the condenser. That's something thats going to be professionaly fixed/replaced. As for the blend door, does the temperature of the air coming out of it go from hot to cool? Or does it stay more hot than cold, like when you turn off the compressor on a normaly functional system and still have the blower blowing air.

Also when the compressor cycles, is it a long engaged time or does it on for a couple seconds off for a couple seconds? You may have a slow leak somewhere, too.

I had some time today to mess with it. The blend door works as it should. Yesterday the compressor was coming on; today it wasn't. Apparently it has a leak as the refridgerant was nowhere to be found. So now I gotta track down the leak and hope it's not the evaporator.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
