Ok so i ordered everything i think im going to need at rock auto. I'm trying to get prices for an evac, flush, then after i replace the components to recharge the system. why is it for some reason half of the shops around don't know what an ac flush is? is it that uncommon to perform this? rock auto says you have to have proof of this procedure done for warranty purposes. i don't understand lol

A/C flush is highly recommended especially if you're replacing the compressor especially since there may be metal residue that may clog up the orifice tube or expansion valve. i flushed my entire system multiple times but still had an orifice tube full of metal and a clogged up expansion valve.

Flushes are typically needed if you replace a compressor. If you go to a shop and they do not know what an A/C flush is, move on. It's a chemical in a bottle they buy, throw through the lines and evacuate. Like anguyen325 said, it is a must if you want a warranty. Also, keep in mind, if you replace a compressor (You didn't state what you're doing), you'll have to flush the condenser, and replace the expansion valve/orifice tube and accumulator for the warranty to remain in effect. If you do not do these things, typically any and and all A/C warranties are void because each could cause a blockage and starve the compressor which is not the manufacturers problem.

You can always just buy the A/C flush solution and do it yourself if you happen to have an air compressor handy
