I belive that is the max AC button. On most cars/trucks that one will make the second fan turn on and get twice the amount of air blowing through the vents. And that button should not activate if the ac control unit is off, and it is manually turned on or off, unless you have the automatic feature that will turn it one when it senses it is too hot in the car. Hope this helped :)

How can you turn the "automatic feature" on and off?

Ok so i got a pic of the unit and on the top left hand corner (same row as the max AC button is located) is the auto button. Turn on your ac and make sure the orange led is off, to disable the auto function. Like i said before you have a temp sensor that indicates when the inside of the truck is really hot and it will always activate the max ac function. You manually will always need to push it to turn it off that is how mine is. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371702291.350737.jpg

In the image above, the BOTTOM left hand button turns the entire system OFF.

That is not the MAX A/C button....this is the re-circulation button. A/C unit cools off the air that is currently in the vehicle. When it is off, the A/C unit cools off the outside air that is coming into the truck.

Mine is set on AUTO so in the hot days, the re-circ light comes on to cool down the vehicle....then changes over to outside air when it gets close to the desired temp that is set.

Most new vehicles don't have a usual Normal and Maximum setting for Air Conditioning like older vehicles did.

Normal A/C is what you get when you push the snowflake button (bottom row, third button from left), it cools and circulates fresh air from outside the vehicle.

Maximum A/C, the third button from the left on the top row in the image above, cools and and circulates the air already in the vehicle. By cooling cool air already within the vehicle, it actually gets even cooler, hence Maximum A/C.
