Hello......I was looking for a little help with this leak I've developed on the passenger side. Every time it rains I get water collecting where the bottom part of the door meets the frame. In addition, but not always I start seeing water soaking through in the middle of the floor board. I can't seem to pinpoint where it's entering. And the fact that it's soaking through the middle of the floorboard leads me to believe that this might be something more internal. Ive replaced the outer molding (rubber strip)....but to no avail.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Here's some pics to better describe the problem. In addition to some outside pics. First ones uploaded.

Check to make make sure its not your heater core...had a similar problem with mine but you'll notice your heater not getting hot and start smelling anti-freeze if thats the problem

Ahh yes....the power of the search button that I failed to use. Thanks for the links. I suspect I'll get to the bottom of it. Definitely not coolant, for sure it's water. Ofcourse it would happen right when I change out the carpet.

The seats are original, however I had them recovered with Katz Skinz leather and had new cushioning put in. What a difference that made. I never realized how screwed up they were until they were redone. I used to live in Hawaii and my interior was absolutely thrashed from everyday life out there. I think I had stuff growing out of the armrests and seats.....no joke, like a fungus or something. Oddly enough there are a bunch of 2 doors out in the islands. I didn't think you'd see any since there becoming fairly rare.

I can't help much with the problem, but your truck looks great. Gives me hope mine will eventually get there...

basically it should the be cowl screws or the windshield seal. did read up on another site that it was coming in through a body panel seal behind the right front fender.

Nice Hoe! I had the same problem in my 95 silverado and it all started when I changed out the front windshield.

I did have the front windshield replaced about a year and a half ago.....but the leak started just in the past few months. Whats throwing me is the fact that its also in the floorboard isolated from the door. And it sometimes leaks from there.

Thanks for the compliments otherwise....Ive had her for almost half my life....1996 model and I will NEVER get rid of it. I had an 85 prior to this one and and some fancy 2 door cars in between but nothing stirs my emotion more than a black blazer. Some people say I'm crazy......others say never get rid of it. I love the thing. I just put new paint and interior in......so so pleased with the paint, black is hard to do properly. 160k , on my 3 rd tranny, 5 sets of flowmasters, (lived in salty environments, power steering change, rear diff went out at 37k, a few water pumps and batteries, 3rd set of tires and rims......but the engine runs strong and clean! She's clean but still needs some work...wiring, motors for mirrors, new power locks, doors are dropping a little when open and I think i'm having problems with 4 HI...goes into 4 Low no problem.....electric push button system. I'd like to repower her in the next couple years.

speaking of the 4 wheel.....I push 4 HI and it just blinks at me......I honestly can't tell if it's truly engaging. I hear a clunk but it doesn't handle like its engaged. 4 low definitely engages and the light goes solid. What do you think?

Tcase shift motor encoder failure or motor brake failure(first one most likely)
When the system logs the specific code it locks out 4hi because it is unable to verify a shift position.

If 96-97 can verify easily with a jumper wire. Let me know.

Encoder Switch Monitor Check

While the transfer case is shifting, the position encoder switch within the electric-shift motor is monitored for the proper operating sequence. If at any time during a shift, the encoder changes to a condition other than the next possible position, an error counter in the TCCM is incremented by four. After the counter reaches 32, DTC 2 (Encoder Fault) is outputted and the TCCM reverts to a default rail-To-rail shift pattern in which only shifts into 2HI and 4L0 are possible.

To protect against transient, random encoder faults caused by vibration, contamination, electrical noise, etc., the fault counter is reduced by one each time a good encoder value is detected. Thus, the encoder must fail 25 percent of the time to be considered permanently bad and store a DTC 2.
