A/T Filter

Looking to do my filter /fluid, I see there are 2 types of filter, a deep and shallow. My RPO code is an M30. So that is the 4L60-E. My Tahoe came with the tow package if that makes a difference.

Which filter do I use?

A did search and couldn't find anything that id's which filter to use.

Look under your truck at the transmission pan. If the pan is flat the length of the pan you have the shallow type.

If the pan steps down to a different thickness you have the deep pan.

if you have the shallow pan good luck getting it off. Actually getting it off is easy. Freeing it from the car is almost impossible. I never did get it past the exhaust pipe that crosses it.

Just to be sure, my pan does have a step, I bought the deep filter kit.

Would using the wrong filter cause this problem?
