well the ole girl has 170 on the clock so i hate to crack it open, but shes leaking oil from every seal on the darn motor...(my father ran synthetic or conv. oil...whichever was on sale...mixed and matched...mixed...whatever worked...lol)
so when i go to reseal the motor, im going to have the shop do a soft rebuild on it. rings and seals, valve springs, RV cams, stuff like that.
the truck will have 6" suspension lift, 3" body lift, 37s and 4.56 gears and the trucks main purpose in life is to pull a 21' Blazer bass boat.

now i said all that to ask this. Anyone have any tips or tricks to squeeze some more power out of this old girl? im sure the new cams will help alot on bottom end, but if im already going into the motor i want to make sure i change any and everything that can give me more power within reason.

ive even thought about tossing a turbo on it later on down the road after a trans rebuild...

I do want to stay with an EFI motor since i do drive it daily so that rules out most of the stroker kits ive seen. not wanting to have 10 grand in the motor on this thing, but I wont hesitate to spend a bit more to get more power.

Thanks in advance!

unknown at this time.
every seal leaks? seriously? synthetic oil would not cause that. at any rate oil pan and timing cover should be done in one job along with the oil cooler adapter and line seals. valve cover can be done separately. as well as rear shaft seal.

yup. every one of them. i had always head that swapping back and forth on syn to conv. would cause them to start leaking? what do you think would cause that? none of them are gushing mind you, about a quart every oil change, but still i dont like it. i would just rather take it in and have my buddy pull the motor and redo it all at once that way i know the motor is fresh and ready to turn the big tires over. I just finished rebuilding the suspension. not as expensive as i thought it would be...so now its time to stop the leaking before i put the lift on and soak all my new suspension parts with oil...and lets face it, it kinda needs more power anyway...haha
