cam upgrade question

I would not mess with a cam change. That already has a big cam out of the factory. It starts climbing on about 2500 rpm in my 2011 Yukon Denali XL with 208,000 miles. It is even more radical on my 2023 Yukon Denali XL.

Plus it idles well.

6psi @ 1000RpM = go find a replacement engine, quickly, not much time left
9psi @ 1000RpM = 18psi @ 2000RpM = really nervous
24psi @ 4000RpM = 12psi @ 2000 RpM = 6psi @ 1000RpM = go find a replacement engine, quickly, not much time left

Anything under 1psi per 100RpM would make me very nervous.

I'm not disagreeing, just providing some factory data. I think there's a lot of factors like oil type, bearing age/condition, oil pump o-ring condition, valley pan o-rings, lifter condition, pressure sensor screen, etc... that go into actual pressure per RPMs.

As long as my engine is better than the minimum specs. then it's one less thing to worry about.

Nor am I. None of the following disagress either.
If the oil pressure is under 1psi per 100RpM, especially under 2000RpM, and
the engine either works or plays harder than mere personal transit, it should stop doing those things
until the cause of the additional wear / lack of pressure is determined and repaired.

Use of 'thicker' oil - say 10W40 - to increase oil pressure, should never be considered a fix.

I'm looking for cam advice: I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 2dr 4x4 5.7 Vortec motor, I would like to tweek the motor a little. I've been told a 460ish cam? To make sure it's for fuel injection and 4x4.

the older 5.7 is a small block Chevy. Great engine but your post is in the Gen 4 ls engine sub forum. probably not a lot of info here for you. you need the section 2 down from this.

on a side note I've never heard of any cam referred to as 460ish?
