My wife has informed me that my abs light has began to flash whenever the brakes are applied while in drive. The shop where i take my truck said that there is a recall on the antilock braking system. After speaking with the mechanic there are no issues with the brakes themselves, he believes it is the sensor itself. Should i call gm and see if they will fix it? Does anybody know of any other recalls on my year and make? If there are other recalls how do i go about getting them fixed or can I? Thanks for any help in advance.

Good morning,

The best way to check the recall history and status is to take your VIN to a dealer and have them check on them. If there are safety recalls, which the ABS would be, then they should do the recall work at no cost to you.

Just out of curiosity, did your mechanic remove the brakes down to the sensors on the hubs and try to do anything with them at all? Sometimes the corrosion on the top of the hub bearing assembly will cause just enough separation between the ABS sensor and the gear inside the hub bearing as to cause it to have issues and make the warning indicator flash or stay on.

He said he checked for corrosion. But i will make sure that all of this was done. Thank You for the help.
