AC Part number/name request.

1999 chevy tahoe 2 door LS front air only. So I am unlucky enough to have to replace the A/C charge/discharge hose and while in the process of that, I now need to replace the condenser. The nut on the condenser is damn near sealed onto the condenser and I twisted the condenser tube (used heat, PB blaster and muscle). I am looking for the other hose name/part number that goes from the bottom of condenser to the firewall behind and to the bottom of the dryer. I am anticipating that the same thing is going to happen to this hose as well and wanna be prepared for this upcoming weekend. Any chance the oriface tube would be in the new hose... whatever it is called?

I wish thats the easier one to find. I cannot find anything for the other hose that screws into the condenser and into the firewall. Thanks though.

GMpartsgiant.com call its the TUBE A/C EVPR so I just have to find a place that carries it... any ideas? They dont list for a 99"

but I read that I should replace the accumulator as well as the evaporator, Can anybody confirm or deny? The reason that prompted the change is I had a leak at the charging side of the A/C hose that bolts on to the compressor. Unfortunately, this was a hose that didn't have the schrader type valve.

Hey man if your summers are not that bad then I would just say bye to the AC compressor and put in a bypass pulley. I just got my truck and has no AC. but it dont bother me because I have another truck to drive on the few bad hot days in WI. also helps your HP and torque.

Whenever you crack open your AC it is good (although some say required) that you replace the accumulator. The accumulator has a desiccant in it that it basically ruined once you expose it to the atmosphere. A new one can be had from partsgeek.com for about $15.

You don't need to replace the evaporator. That's under the dash and requires removal of the steering column and the entire dash.

I have that hose on my parts Yukon if you need it but I do not know the name of it.

FWIW, a 50/50 mixture of transmission fluid and acetone mixture makes a fantastic penetrating oil!

Question.... Did you document the process you took replacing your A/C stuff?

+1. A write up would be great. I have to do this soon and it would like some insight on how to go about this and how long it should take. Is it a solo job or two man job? Did any of it give you problems?

I thought about taking pics and doing a right up. I didnt get a chance to though. I could however get the pics without doing the work again. This is not a bad job at all. It is definitely a one person job. It took me the better part of the day to do it. And doing it again it would only take me about half a day to complete again. I will do a right up about it in the next week or so.
