My a.c. went out on my yukon. I plan on replacing the compressor, orafice tube, accumilator, and hoses. I am thinking about the Condensor as well. I planned on flushing the evaporator and maybe the Condensor. Depends on what is better to do. Has anyone else fixed there own a.c. and what are some tips and things to watch out for. I plan on taking it to a mechanic to vacuum out the Freon and replace it. Thanks for your help!

i would want to know what failed first.
The a.c. stopped blowing. The accumulator frosted over. I replaced the fan switch in the dash and a fan inside the can by the passengers feet. I can't remember what it's called. Neither thing worked. The a.c. stopped blowing at all. But I try turning it on every once in awhile and one time it turned on and blew cold. But after that nothing.

then don't tear it down. specifically what in the system does not happen at the moment. blower, compressor on, vent doors, what? that can is called the hvac box and has the doors, evap and heater core inside. when you say it does not blow are you talking the fan or is that how you describe just no cold air?

The fan is not blowing. There is no air coming out at all hot or cold. It mysteriously turned on once and blew cold air but only once and the accumulator has frost on it when it stopped working

I will turn it on in the morning and see if the compressor comes on. I've only say in the cab and tested it. I can't hear the compressor from there. But I don't feel a change in the engine so I'm guessing no it doesn't

when the compressor engages you will see and hear a slight load change on the engine and the center shaft on the compressor will start turning with the belt. at any rate i attached a diagnostics file for you to cover the fan stuff in the hvac. get together a multi-meter and maybe a few jumper wires for testing. any questions just ask.

circuit. it is basically numbering them so it is easier to identify which one is being discussed and when looking at multiple diagrams you know where the wire on each should be matched together.
