The AC in my truck runs really cold air only when I press the AUX button on the front dash climate control for the rear seats. Now if I don't press the button the air is warm. Of course the snowflake button is pressed in both occurrences.

I also noticed that rear air doesn't run as cold as the front does. There is a faint hissing sound coming from the rear too.

My first gen Escalade would cool better in the rear than the front. It was low on freon and since the rear uses an expansion valve it would cool better with the lower freon level than the front could which uses an orfice tube.

I don't know if that has anything to do with your issue or not but thought I would share my experience.

I would start with checking your freon level.

Ok I'll look into the freon level. It's just weird to have to put freon in the truck every summer. When I had my 02 Denali I never had to add freon. It was always cold.

You probably have a leak. It might be worth having it looked at, it could just be an o-ring or something.
