I was thinking about putting the Accel Ignition coils in my 02 chevy tahoe. Are they worth the money? I'm just looking for another way to maybe add a little more power and MPG. I have CAI, Flowmaster Super 40, 6.5" BDS suspension lift with 35s on 20s. Getting a black Bear tune in the middle of July and was thinking of putting in the coils before I get the tune. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

After doing a bunch of reading, it seems that aftermarket coils and wires are a waste of money. The money would be better spent on a set of long tube headers, a set of gears (especially with those 35s), a new torque converter or a cam. These mods are more expensive, but actually make a huge difference.

Yea those other mods are just too expensive for me at the moment. I can't do that kind of work so paying for a shop to do it put its out if my price range. I am looking for more simple inexpensive mods.

Those coils are more than likely worse than the OEM coils. You won't need aftermarket coils unless you're in the high horsepower boost range.

I just want to say that I really appreciate this forum. I was starting to look for cool new MSD or Accel coils and wires to spiff up my 8.0. Good to know that there's nothing wrong with stock and to leave well enough alone. I will probably put in a new set of plugs on the next maintenance cycle though.
