Is there much of a difference in the two? I need all the power I can get. salvage yard here only has a 130 amp. I hear the 145 amp ad244's are pretty good and underrated, just haven't heard much of anything about the 130 amp ones. anyone know what they do at idle? Ive heard 100+ amps at idle but I find that hard to believe

If you need all the power you can get why are you getting a junk yard piece and dropping it in? They make them to out out 300 amps ...

That was another thing I was wondering about, was rebuilding them to be bigger. I was going to see if I can find a kit to just rebuild them myself, and if I can would they be very good at idle still? I know if you upgrade the cs130 or whatever, it wont do shit at idle.

And im getting junkyard alts cuz they tend to be cheap, and I hear those stock alts are pretty good. I have a dc power xp270 and a stock on it right now, im sure the stock one isn't hardly doing anything for me which is why I want to swap to ad244's along with my xp270

I wonder if it would be better to just buy one already built, or get a junkyard alt and rebuild it yourself... Im assuming that kit fits the 130 amp version too? hmm

My truck came with a 130. I upgraded to a 145, and it did help some but not enough. So I then added an overdrive pulley, which helped a very minimal amount. As long as the engine is at least 1500RPMs or more, I have plenty of power for all my electric stuff. But with the engine at idle, with front and rear AC on high, the stereo on, and both E-fans kick on high, voltage drops down to as low as 10 volts for a few seconds when the fans first kick on.
I wish I had a 200amp alternator. Maybe someday I will get around to buying one if I ever get enough extra $$$.
