Probably not worth the effort to be honest. The factory speakers can't take much in the way of power and that's what it will take for better sound. To be honest, I'd look at upgrading the speakers in the car to at least some decent coax speakers. My Yukon sounded better just with doing that. Of course I wasn't satisfied with that and added a sub and an amp too.

the stock speakers will sound better with a better processor (headunit)

the stock processor will sound better with a more efficient speaker system capable of processing the sound better (speakers)

adding a (good) amp to a shit signal (stock headunit) and using it to push shit speakers (stock) harder.. will not only result in a crap but will result in probably just blowing alot of time and money to blow your stock speakers.

Cheap fix, Add nicer speakers to your stock headunit.

Better fix, add an LOC to the stock headunit, then an amp, then better speakers.

What if you have the Bose speakers??

Several of you have just stated adding a amp to stock speakers is not the way to go. I have the stock NAV with Bose speakers. I thought Bose speakers were top of the line? I was dissapointed with the total power output of this stock set up ( just bought this rig 2 weeks ago...Nov 2010). I was also thinking of adding a amp/amps and a sub the the stock set up. And what's up with GM not putting a sub in the back of this 2007 Tahoe??

I got a Pioneer AViC-Z110BT double din nav HU and it made my bose speakers sound 10 times better.

some Bose setups have a different coil impedance. You have to use the factory Bose amp.
The Bose speakers work fine for what they put in there, but once you add more power, you will want better.
