I would be interested in knowing what your oil temp runs, while idling, without an oil cooler... after it's up to operating temperature of course.

Show them through the DIC or what?

I have the Torque app and a Bluetooth dongle and can see the oil temp using the PID info above

Some updates on temps. It's been in the low 60's and windy lately, but on my 20 minute commute in city driving oil temps got up to 200*. I haven't let it idle for more than a couple minutes at a time but the temp doesn't rise much, maybe a half a degree, but it does drop slightly when driving.

Headed to the mountains this weekend, approx 6000ft climb, same hill im towing the boat up in may, so I'll report back after that because I'm really curious as to what temp it gets up to without the cooler

Just curious, do you let your truck idle to get up to operating temperature before driving?

The reason I ask is because I faithfully remote start the Burb, usually twice (so 20 mins run time) and let it get up to temperature before driving it and my oil temps run about 210°- 212° and that is with the 2 oversized filters and an aftermarket air to oil cooler and about a 9 quart capacity after all those additions including the lines to connect it all.

I just figured your temps would be higher without an oil cooler and running 3 less quarts than me.

I just figured your temps would be higher without an oil cooler and running 3 less quarts than me.

My calculated engine oil temps run about the same as the coolant and up to about 5-10 degrees more in traffic which makes sense since the cooler is in the radiator and it is running a stock 187 thermostat. Someday I'll try the 174.

My coolant temperature runs around 192° at operating temperature according to the Torque Pro app... not the gauge.

I have considered adding the factory oil cooler option if/when I ever have to replace the radiator, but still undecided... that would probably equate to a 10 quart oil capacity at that point.

I have also considered a lower thermostat but, again, haven't made up my mind.
