All depends on where you are and what store you go to. There are 4 auto zones within 20 miles of my house (small town Iowa) and two have competent staff and the other two employ folks who have no clue.
Had an Advanced Auto and a Car Quest. They merged them into one store under Advance Auto name, got rid of half the staff at each store and now have a fully knowledge staff.
With NAPA, I do find I have better than average experience with them but the two NAPA’s I’ve dealt with most in my life, I’ve known the owner/manager and got straight talk and good help.
