Advice on shopping for 2007/2008 Tahoe

Hi, I'm new to the forums and hoping I can get some good advice here. I'm in Colorado and my 10-year old car died Saturday so now I'm looking for a 2007 or 2008 Tahoe or Yukon but I wanted to ask owners some questions:

1. What kind of mileage should I be avoiding? I've seen some 07's listed with 70,000 miles. Is that too many for an 07 Tahoe? Or is that something I shouldn't worry about?

2. Is there anything in particular I should watch out for in these vehicles? I'm going to have my top choices inspected by an independent shop so I'm looking for anything particular to this line. I don't want to drop $30,000 on a truck and then have to spend $1500 in a repair two months later.

3. If you were looking for a similar rig, what would you be watching out for?

4. How have the 07 and 07 models held up? Any serious issues or would you buy another one knowing what you know/what experience you've had?

IMHO, look for at least an 08. Body and mechanical change over from 2006 to 2007, so any flaws found on 07, was hopefully upgraded in 08.
Search for the lowest mileage you can, and make sure to get at least the 5.3 over the 4.8 engine.
The weak link is the stock 4L60e transmission in these, so if you find a denali, etc with a 6.0, chances are it will have the stronger 4L65e or 4L80e.
I paid $17,000 for my 03, 3 years ago with 61,000 miles. And while soem disagree, I bought the 3 year and up to 100,000 mile warranty. It paid off, I needed a new tranny and it covered it, $1500 tranny. So if you plan to keep it, get low miles, and look at the warranty coverage.
08's should be plentiful about now, so you should be in a good time to bargain.

Search cars.com for the best deals. You can get a fully loaded 2008 LTZ 4X4 with nav for under 30K. Make sure they are GM certified then you get a 12/12 bumper to bumper warranty free of charge. Don't worry about the miles so much the 5.3 is a 200K engine and you should have no problems well into the 100K mile range. You can get a 2009 for under 30 if you skimp on some options. Thanks for the helpful replies. That's great information you've provided and I feel more prepared when looking at the different models.

Yesterday I test drove a 2007 Yukon with 35,000 miles for the entire afternoon. Got to take it on the interstate as well as through rush hour stop & go traffic. It was a great ride, really comfortable, and sounded and felt great. That one has new tires on it and it's $31,000 out the door. I'll keep looking though and I'll be sure to let you know what I pick.

if you can, get an 09... the 6 speed automatic is what you want... the 4 was 1970s tech... the 6 is much better.

also you step up to (optionally) cooled front seats, integrated brake controller (I tow) and bluetooth...

be sure to get the sat nav as well... the power rear lift gate is also a worth it option! that thing is huge...

Got one!

So I found an 07 Yukon, pewter, with dark cloth seats. Really nice condition inside and out. It has 76,000 miles and I think it will be great for our growing family (6, 4, and one expected July 4th). I was able to get over $1000 knocked off their 'final' price so I feel good about the cost. Our credit union gave us a loan at 3.99% so it all worked out well.

The miles are kind of high but our plan is to drive it for 2-3 years and then trade it in for something larger (picturing hockey bags, soccer teams, family road trips, extended camping trips, etc) like a Yukon XL Denali.
