3 owners in 4 years is quite a bit... however...Looking for feedback. Posted this on a FB group as well and general consensus was “red flags”. Would like to get feedback here also. Because unfortunately in really like this one.
test drove today at a used car dealer in MA a 2021 Z71 with “signature package”. It has everything I have been looking for. The price is $53,869. It has just under 30,000 miles on it.
It appears to be immaculate inside and out. Even underneath hood. The bad side is since 2020 it’s had three owners and this dealership bought it from an auction in September 2024. I currently have a 2008 Tahoe.
should we walk? My husband is concerned about 3 owners in 4 years and how long it has been sitting on the used dealers lot. with the low mileage. Giant red flag. All the owners have been in Massachusetts. Carfax doesn’t show anything out of the normal stuff. I can provide CarFax link if that is allowed.
I've seen "gas guzzlers" go this route. People can't deal with the cost of putting fuel in the tank and they bail. In the time frame when owners were going from 1,2,3 the fuel prices went bonkers.
I've also seen full size SUVs get a large number of owners because the size is unwieldy. Once the honeymoon phase is over, they have to put it in the garage, park it, and go around town with it. There is a good amount of people who will bail on this because they can't deal with the everyday hassle of a full size suv.
Lastly, there is a growing number of people who can't deal with the payments associated with a full size suv. They cut their losses quickly and trade in on something with a lower payment.
Combine any of these and you can get 3 owners in 4 years easily.
The downside is that these three groups would also easily pass on basic maintenance knowing they aren't keeping the SUV for very long.
