Aftermarket GPS/NAV unit?

Are there any good Aftermarket NAV/GPS units out there that anybody have used?

I am just looking at replacing my stock non-nav radio with a NAv unit, keeping the speakers and what not.

older model, but has navigation. Pioneer D3. Got the gps antenna, nav disks.

I was looking at a few aftermarket nav units and the guy at the shop told me I need a gm harness to maintain steering wheel functionality.

Anybody know part numbers or are these specific to radios. Looking at clarion now.

Those Advent ones look pretty decent. I do not have any experience with them but I read that they use factory wiring and can upgraded to TomTom or Garmin software. I could be totally wrong but this is my understanding.
